I am thinking about a subscription, but I am not ready to move to 1Password 8 just yet especially if the Mac app performance is not up to par with the previous app yet. now they are taking existing functionality away hoping that we upgrade to a subscription. That doesn't seem to be entirely true anymore. They previously said the current iOS app and 1Password 7 for desktop would continue to support standalone vaults and that a NEW SEPARATE iOS app would be released to go with the new desktop version. AutoFill still works, but they want you to subscribe to use previous functionality that worked just fine. The new Safari extension only supports subscription accounts. So if you use a standalone vault, you're outta luck from now on. Warning: iOS app version 7.8 removed the old Safari share sheet extension that supported standalone vaults. The plethora of apologies coming from /u/dteare7 and everyone at AgileBits are becoming really hard to stomach. It can’t be that difficult to add the share sheet extension back, but that idea seems to be a complete non-starter? I’ve read /u/dteare7 and many other members of the development team apologizing for its elimination, and expressing regret at the lack off communication about its removal, but there have been no efforts to actually rectify the situation. Unlike many of the other decisions made recently (the move to Electron, deprecating local vaults, and elimination of stand-alone licenses in 1Password 8), the removal of the share sheet seems really arbitrary, and honestly comes across as a big FU to many of your iOS users. The frustration, and even anger that AgileBits is experiencing from this decision should be very concerning to everyone working at 1Password. I also find the excuses, that the new extension is so much better, extremely disingenuous when the extension won’t work with local vaults, and is also not compatible with iOS 14 and below. That seems to be a pretty arrogant decision, as it is obvious that a lot of users (including myself) did use the share sheet quite often. u/dteare7 mentioned in another long winded post that he and most of the dev team haven’t used it in a while, so they didn’t really see it as important. I have yet to read a legitimate reason for the removal of the share sheet extension. Now, if it you could stop with the patronising nonsense about being sorry for the frustration, that would be great. So, it might take a while to move, but move I shall. I'm fascinated by the choice and I recognise where it is coming from-but, well, it's just not a great idea. Now? Well, I'll just switch to LastPass Enterprise and be done. I don't have to buy your product, but the experience made it worthwhile. The company I work for gives me LastPass. You've promised a "top tier experience." Electron isn't top tier. Once you move away from what made 1Password the platform of choice for macOS (and let's face it, that's why it ended up on my iPad, iPhone and my other devices) then, well, it's no longer the platform of choice. Well, this is going to force a decision, isn't it?ĭave, you may be the Founder, but your doing pretty well at annoying your most loyal customers. what? Am I going to get slung 1Password 8 automatically at some point? I'm going to wake up one day and. You're charging more money than ever before, and now you're not even providing a native app. And that was fine, because it was a native app that ran well. Of course, it didn't matter if you already had an investment in the product, no discount or delayed payment for you. There were regular updates that didn't cost much. I chose your platform because it was native. I think that you are ignoring where your customers have come from. We'll always be marked by an official flair, and will always love both 1Password and you. You'll see some friendly people from the 1Password team ready to help you - keep an eye out for /u/1PasswordCS-Blake, /u/agben, u/Zatara214, and more of us!
